Game story from Tomateros website featuring Tyler Graham (in Spanish), with a picture of him batting
I feel like this article is worth my attempt at translation, since it praises Tyler Graham in a way that you would have no idea about by just reading the box score, and Google Translate does a pretty bad job at translating it with the baseball lingo and all.

GRAHAM STEALS THE SHOW – The North-American makes a pair of catches, including one in the tenth inning, avoiding an extra-base hit from Víctor Díaz

The Culiacán Tomato-Growers had in Tyler Graham their principal figure of the game, in which he made two catches worthy of an anthology and Ricardo Serrano drove in the run with which the Culiacán Tomato-Growers won 5-4 against the Obregón Yaquis, in the first game of the series played in Tomas Oroz Gaytán Stadium.

Graham saved the cherries* in the bottom half of the tenth inning, avoiding a double by Víctor Díaz, which would have tied the game for Obregón and put the winning run in scoring position; however it was only a scare and Amauri Sanit was charged with dominating the following batters to bring the triumph. The Tomato-Growers were located in the second place of the standings below the Mexicali Eagles, and taking a game to the same Yaquis.

The cherries* made the deciding run in the top half of the tenth inning, when they loaded the bases with no outs, and the sacrifice fly of Ricardo Serrano drove in Eloy Gutierrez, making things 5-4.

Obregón put drama to the game in the bottom half of the inning, since Carlos Valencia opened with a single and then came Graham’s sensational catch off the bat of Díaz that was the first out; the last thirds of the inning, the brothers Albino and Sergio Contreras were responsible for.

This comes as the third victory of the Tomato-Growers in extra innings, in the same number of games played in these instances; the first was in the third game of the series with the Navojoa Mayos, and the second was against the Hermosillo Orange-Growers.

For tomorrow the pitching duel will be between Francisco Campos for Culiacán and Marco Quevedo, for the Yaquis, in which a pitching duel is expected.

*It appears that “cherries” is like a nickname for Tomateros, probably like saying “halos” for Angels?

Back to last year’s and last last year’s project… Giants in the Fall/Winter Leagues

The year before last year, I tried to make updates every night of how the players in the Giants organization did in the Fall/Winter Leagues, since it’s hard to get all that information in one place. Well, I kinda only kept that up for a couple weeks. All the info is so scattered, it takes forever to put it together! Then last year, since the Giants were actually in the postseason, I had even less time to try to do this… so this year, with the Giants not even in the postseason at all, I’m going to try again! 🙂 I barely remember how I did this last year and the year before, so I’ve just copied the blog entry I used last time and edited it to have this year’s info…

So now that the Major League baseball season is officially over, it’s time for the Arizona Fall League and the Caribbean Winter Leagues. It’s a little hard to get information about the Giants in these leagues all in one place. Someone on Twitter (@SFG1ants) suggested to me that I could link to some sort of a nightly recap of how the Giants players did that day. Sounds like a good idea to me! Every night I’ll try to write an entry summarizing what each of the Giants players did, and put it in the “Fall/Winter League Recaps” category. I’ll start with which Giants I know of that are playing in the Fall/Winter Leagues, and some links. Pretty much all my info is from this site. Feel free to let me know if you have any more information! 🙂
